Saint John has received a $25-thousand-dollar grant from TD Green Streets and Tree Canada for the arboretum in Rockwood Park.
Naturalist Emily Murphy says the money will go towards planting all 43 species of trees and other woody plants that are native to New Brunswick.
Murphy says the money will also cover the costs of installing interpretive signage for each one of the native trees from New Brunswick.
She says the arboretum will be used to educate students throughout Saint John and surrounding areas.
The plot represents the native New Brunswick Acadian forest.
