Premier Brian Gallant delivered a progress report today, marking the first two years of its mandate. He says his government has been working hard to grow the economy, create jobs and support New Brunswickers and their families.
“New Brunswick’s economy has grown at its fastest rate in the past two years since 2010, and it continues to show signs of growth in 2016,” Gallant stated.
“Investments in major projects are up 29 per cent in 2015, and the provincial government has helped created 8000 jobs, which is only 2000 short of the commitment that was made when they were first elected, ” he adds.
Premier Gallant says his government is investing more in the people of New Brunswick and that is their biggest asset, “We’re very proud of what we have been able to do by working with New Brunswickers to advance economic growth. We had to the fourth largest economic growth increase in 2015 in Canada. The economic growth that we are seeing is not just going to a few people or a few industries. It is really going to New Brunswickers across the province. They have more money in their pockets, and they can offer a better quality of life and invest in their families.”

He feels that some of the measures that the province has taken to support job creation are lowering the small business tax two years in a row, raising the minimum wage two years in a row, which puts more money into New Brunswickers pockets, and they have also invested more money in infrastructure to create jobs and improve roads and schools.
He adds, “Our government has made the right decisions to ensure that they balance the budget by 2020, and we were actually able to invest more in education, the most ever in the history of the province.
