If your child plays contact sports you might want to hear all about concussions tomorrow in Quispamsis.
There are three presenters including the rehab specialist for the Sea Dogs, Stewart Munro. Dr. Richard Louis is with the New Brunswick Trauma Programme at Horizon Health. He says young people are especially vulnerable because their brain and neck muscles are not fully developed.
Dr. Louis also makes clear that helmets don’t prevent concussions and a serious hit to your neck can also cause a concussion if it results in your brain rattling inside your skull.
The presentations take place at the Yamaji Do Jo Martial Arts Centre on Millenium Drive from 10 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.
The programme includes martial arts demonstrations and there will also be a barbeque.
