According to Transport Canada, 80 per cent of child seats and booster seats are not installed correctly, and Vice-President for the Atlantic Branch of IBC Amanda Dean says there are even more startling statistics from Parachute Canada, an organization that helps prevent injuries and save lives, “That organization estimates that over two classrooms of children die in cars each year, and thousands more are injured. If we can prevent some of those injuries from happening, this is something that we as the Insurance industry would certainly like to contribute towards.”
As a part of Child Passenger Safety week, IBC provided financial support to help produce a YouTube that provides step by step instructions for parents installing a car seat.
