Horizon Health is looking to move the future of the Charlotte County Hospital from the grey, to black and white.
In a release today, Horizon says a previous news release on Friday, September 23rd was misinterpreted by some readers as indicating the return of general anesthetic surgery.
The release says surgery with local anesthetic, only, will continue in the operating room in St. Stephen, which represents about 86 percent of surgical procedures that have taken place in St. Stephen in recent years. Surgeries with general anesthetic will not be taking place.
In addition, Horizon says it will be implementing many recommendations from the 2013 Community Health Needs Assessment for St. Stephen, St. Andrews and surrounding areas.
The assessment suggested maintaining 24 hour emergency room services, enhancing ambulatory care services, and primary care.
Vice President of Medical, Academic, and Research Affairs, Dr. Edouard Hendriks says they are looking as a new primary care clinic using various health professionals.
