The provincial Health Minister highlighting what is in the works for the Charlotte County Hospital.
Minister Victor Boudreau says the focus is on maintaining 24 hour emergency room services, enhancing ambulatory care services, and strengthening primary care, which are all recommendations from the 2013 Community Health Needs Assessment for St. Stephen, St. Andrews, and surrounding areas.
“The Community Health Needs Assessment, which was conducted for the area, you know, that’s what was highlighted as being important to the community. Andwe agree that those are important to the community and we are going to continue to work on those.”
Minister Boudreau says it was a commitment from government to increase the number of community health centres in the province, and a new primary care clinic is slated to open soon at the Charlotte County Hospital, “It’s basically to have a community health centre within the [ Charlotte County ] Hospital to deal with primary care services.”
He says they are hoping to have it running by the end of 2016.
