A father and son will be cycling a total of 262 KM to Prince Edward Island to raise money for the first annual Cycling for CARE event.
Justin Van Beelen says the purpose is to raise money to help patients enjoy a relaxing environment while in the Oncology department at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Van Beelen says the money will provide small things such as a TV, radio, or even a bedside fan to patients who can’t afford it.
He says these simple little items can allow patients a good night’s sleep before treatment.
Van Beelen says the support he’s received from the people of Saint John has been “nothing short of empowering”.
He says the original goal was to raise $1500, but they’ve already raised $3,000, so now they’ll just try to raise as much money as they can.
