A delay in the bylaw in Montreal that will ban pitbulls. The Superior Court has out a hold on the by-law until at least tomorrow.
The Montreal SPCA wants the court to overturn sections of the bylaw, because it believes it will cause serious prejudice and harm against the dogs and their owners.
Once this by-law goes into effect, pitbull owners in Montreal would be required to register their dogs at a cost of $125 and the dogs will have to be muzzled.
If the owners do not comply, the dogs will face euthanization.
A judge decided to put a hold on the by-law until a decision is made as to whether or not the SPCA’s request will be heard.
A decision is expected to be made tomorrow afternoon.
