Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 are being encouraged to write an essay, poem or a video about what Home means to them…
This is a part of an annual Meaning of Home contest put on by Genworth Canada that benefits Habitat for Humanity…
Community Development Manager Chantal Landry says last year, a student from Bessborough School was a runner up in the contest and she received a lot of local recognition, “You also get national recognition because all of the winners, whether they are runners up get recognized by Habitat for Humanity and Genworth Canada. She got recognition at her school and some of the winners will be a pizza party for their class, and donations to their school.”
Last year, over 5000 essays were received from across the country.
$50, 000 dollars goes to the Habitat for Humanity of the winner’s choice and the winning students gets $1000.
