If you were faced with a storm or potential disaster, how would you react? Are you prepared for one, if it does happen?
Provincial Manager for Disaster Management at the Canadian Red Cross Marc Belliveau offers three tips, “Know the risks, Be able to identify them, and make a plan around them.”
The second is to have a plan, if you are stuck in your home, do you have enough to sustain your family? If you had to leave, where would you and where would you meet, if you are separated?
The third is to build a kit, “Are you able to build a kit within your home, water, food and other essential items, to sustain your family? If you have to leave on a moment;s notice, do you have those essential documents that you might need if you had to leave on a moments notice.”
Belliveau says your family should be prepared to take care of themselves for at least 72 hours if disaster strikes.
