Atlantic Canadians can breathe a collective sigh of relief as the deadly and destructive Hurricane Matthew will not be impacting this region whatsoever.
The hurricane has reportedly reached category four strength and U.S. president Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency for Florida ahead of Matthew.
Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote tells us later on through the weekend, the centre of the storm is expected to reach the border between Georgia and South Carolina and then it will make a turn to the east and return over the water.
“The Canadian Hurricane Centre had issued a initial bulletin a few days ago regarding the potential for the remnants of the hurricane affecting the Maritimes and this bulletin was ended on Wednesday,” says Cote.
“Hurricane Matthew will not affect the Maritimes at all,” he tells us.
