By next year, a medical marijuana program will be offered at the CCNB campus in the Campbellton and Atholville area.
Executive Director of Customized Learning Michel Doucet says they feel there is going to be a future need for this type of program in the province, “A derivative of the recent announcement of Zenabis, who has announced some major job creation with the opening of a plant in the Atholville area. That combined with the well being of Organigram in Moncton, we’re pretty confident this industry will provide some challenging career opportunities in the near future.”
The program will provide quality education in horticulture, plant care, vegetation, lighting and heating and environment.
Doucet says when the program begins, it will be offered in conjunction with industry needs, “Training will be offered with their consent and plan within the industry needs. For now, we have no intentions of making this a wide public offering. There is a lot more work to be done, and we want to make sure that every step is done very carefully”
He expects they will have 15 to 20 students at a time, but the curriculum is still being finalized.
