The longtime girlfriend of drug producer Richard Valiquette who is on trial for criminal negligence causing the death of 17-year-old Gavin Adams, has testified about the last time she saw the teenager.
24-year-old Aimee Fournier says on December 14, 2013 she was home sick with bronchitis at the two-bedroom apartment she shared with Valiquette, 28, on Kennedy Street in the north end and both Adams and his high school friend Adrian Goguen came to visit that day. She testified that she went for a nap around 8pm and by the time she woke up a few hours later, both boys were gone — the last time she saw Adams he was sitting in her living room.
According to earlier testimony from Goguen, the two of them had taken four tabs each of the psychedelic drug 25i at Valiquette’s apartment that day which was “stronger than usual” and had made it difficult to talk, balance, or get his bearings. The next day, Fournier says police came to the apartment looking for Adams because he was missing.
She says she asked Valiquette whether Adams and Goguen were okay when they were leaving the apartment, she testified that Valiquette told her they had were stumbling “like they were drunk” and had some trouble opening the door. She also says Adams’ put on one of her steel-toed work shoes instead of his sneaker, which the police later came to retreive.
Fournier told the court that she believes Valiquette was selling DMT, 25i and marijuana and knew Adams was into DMT and 25i, visiting once or twice a month to buy drugs. She says Adams came over to their place intoxicated “fairly often” and she also saw him smoke marijuana and DMT. She says he either got those drugs from Valiquette or he already had it on him.
The 25i was ordered online, and came in the mail to their apartment, Fournier testified.
Two days later on December 16, 2013 after an extensive search, Adams’ frozen body was found off of Chesley Drive.
