The flu shot is now available in New Brunswick and health care providers are urging you to get vaccinated to help protect yourself from the virus.
One of the big myths surrounding the flu vaccine is that you can get sick with the flu after getting a shot.
However, Paul Blanchard with the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association says that’s not the case at all.
“The flu vaccine is made up of dead cells so you can’t get sick from that,” he notes.
Blanchard says it takes about two weeks for the flu shot to have a full affect on your body.
He adds if you get sick a couple of days after getting the vaccine, you were going to get sick anyway.
