A 47-year-old man is facing charges following a lengthy standoff with police near Tracadie.
RCMP say they received a call on Thursday around 5pm from Six Roads about a man who had locked himself inside his home with a firearm.
Roads in the area were closed and nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.
RCMP negotiators were called in to assist.
Police say the man fired two shots during the standoff but he was eventually arrested early Friday around 2am.
No one was hurt.
The man was taken to hospital for observation before he was taken into custody.
