Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen combined on a two hitter in a 1-0 shutout of the Chicago Cubs in Game 2 of the National League championship. Adrian Gonzalez hit a homer in the second inning for the only score of the game to tie the series at one game each.
The American League championship resumes tonight in Toronto with the Blue Jays trailing Cleveland 2 games to nothing. The Jays will start Marcus Stroman against Trevor Bauer for Cleveland.
In the NFL, New England beat Cincinnati 35-17 to improve to 5 and 1 as Tom Brady threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns….Pittsburgh lost to Miami 30-15 and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will have to undergo surgery on his left knee. He’s not expected to play next Sunday against New England. Dallas is now 5 and 1 after winning 30-16 over Green Bay. Seattle improved to 4 and 1 with a 26-24 win over Atlanta which now has a record of 4 and 2. In the NHL, it was the Islanders over Anaheim in overtime 3-2……Vancouver got by Carolina in overtime 4-3 and Buffalo beat Edmonton 6-2.
