The trial of 28 year old Richard Valiquette for criminal negligence causing the death of Gavin Adams in 2013 has been told the cause of the 17 year old’s death.
Medical Examiner Dr. Mohammad Hossain concluded Adams died of hypothermia and the consumption of 25-i may have been a contributing factor by causing him to be disoriented and confused. Adams was with a friend after taking 25-i but they split up after seeing a police car.
The Chief Medical Examiner of Nova Scotia reviewed the various medical reports. Forensic Pathologist Dr. Matthew Bowes testified 25-i is similar to LSD but by itself would not have caused Adams to die nor would it make him more susceptble to hypothermia.
He told the court 25-i impaired his decisionmaking which made him do something unwise.
