A big crowd on hand for the Big Data Congress at the Trade and Convention Centre in Saint John to hear from a technology expert who worked as Senior Advisor for Innovation to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Alec Ross says the economy is changing with rapid technological change and a lot of people have and will lose their jobs. Ross says that explains the rise of Donald Trump and political extremism with him capitalising on the anger of those people who feel left behind and whose wages have stagnated. He predicts that anger will fuel political extremism.
On the other hand, Ross says there will be jobs for those people who have the right skill sets. He warns the education system hasn’t adapted to the needs of the new technological economy.
Ross is also a best selling author of a book on the industries of the future.
