A recent Ipos Reid survey has found over half of Canadians (54 %) say Canada is heading in the right direction.
China ranked number one, followed by Saudi Arabia, India, Peru and then Canada.
Only 36 percent of Americans believe things are heading in the right direction.
The poll ranked Canada in the top five among twenty five countries polled for optimism.
Some of the biggest concerns facing Canadians is unemployment, healthcare, taxes and environment issues like climate change.
Only 1 in 5 Canadians worry about political and financial corruption, which was much lower then the global average at 33 percent.
