A 37-year-old Moncton man has received jail time after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
Jamie Albert Deroche was sentenced on Friday to one year in jail and also received three years probation.
Deroche was arrested on Thursday after the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit carried out a search warrant at a home on Maple Street in Moncton.
Police seized electronic equipment and an unsecured firearm.
Besides his sentence, Deroche will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry for life and will not allowed to be around children without an adult present.
