By tomorrow night, we will know who the new leader the Provincial Conservative Party will be.
7 people want the job. They are Mel Norton, Blaine Higgs, Jake Stewart, Mike Allen, Monica Barley, Jean Dube and Brian MacDonald.
We asked JP Lewis, Associate Professor of Political Science at UNB Saint John if there is a danger of two Saint John-area candidates like Higgs and Norton splitting the vote.
He says it’s hard to say because each candidate can travel the province to elicit support outside their own area but if you split the vote when you have this many candidates that could leave it open to someone else.
We will be covering the convention in Fredericton this weekend.
