Transporters Without Borders, a dog transport group, will be holding a dog walk tomorrow from 11am-1pm starting at Kings Square to show support for pit bulls and their owners.
Coordinator Julie Roy says it’s a show of solidarity for what’s happening in Montreal right now.
Roy says no new pit bulls can be adopted in Montreal, which means the dogs in the shelters will be euthanized.
The goal of the dog walk is to show Saint John pit bulls are normal dogs.
She says the only reason pit bulls have a stigma associated with them is because bad people take advantage of their loyalty, and calls it “ten times harder to train any dog to be viscous compared to being a normal dog”.
Roy owns two pit bulls herself, one is from Georgia (pictured left) and the other is from New York (pictured right).
She says the pit bull from Georgia was a bait dog and shouldn’t trust humans, but calls her “the biggest sook ever”.
The other dog was found chained up in a basement in New York days away from starvation.
She says her two pit bulls are the best dogs she’s ever owned.
Roy just got back from Montreal, where she was able to rescue some dogs that needed to get out Montreal before they were euthanized.
