The Cancer Society is urging the provincial government to allow men to receive HPV vaccines and not just women.
The Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society in New Brunswick, Anne McTiernan says recent stats show cancers of the throat and mouth caused by HPV are on the rise among men, to the point where those rates have almost surpassed the rate of cervical cancer in women.
McTiernan expects to see a 40 percent increase in the next 15 years.
