Agreement on funding for a new health accord remains elusive.
The President of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions, Linda Silas says if the worry is money for healthcare then work should begin now on a national Pharmacare program to pay for prescription drugs. She points to New Brunswick as an example of how much money would be freed up, claim the province would save $278 million dollars a year with Pharmacare which would be enough money to hire 800 nurses.
Bill Tholl, President and CEO of Healthcare CAN, says New Brunswick has 33 medical procedures whose cost is not covered and the list is growing. He says that’s going in the wrong direction.
