A lower body injury has forced Saint John Sea Dogs forward Joseph Veleno to back out of the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Veleno calls it a great honour to represent Canada and says not being able to play is “a huge disappointment”.
He says the results didn’t turn out to great last year and says he would have had a better chance at winning a gold medal this year.
Sea Dogs medical staff decided to was best for Veleno to stay in Saint John and take his time recovering from his injury.
He’s not sure when he’ll be back in the Sea Dogs lineup and says he’ll get checked out by the medical staff within the next week, and go from there.
