Canada’s National Ballet School will embark on a National Audition Tour next month, looking for the country’s best dancers.
Ballet Teacher Ashley Powell says they go on tour once a year, “Canada’s National Ballet School crosses the country from coast to coast, looking for talented young people who have a passion for moving and who are interested in pursuing a career in dance.”
That tour includes one stop in New Brunswick, in Moncton on November 24th and 25th, “We’ll see about a thousand students and from those thousand students, we will take about 175 into our summer school which is a month long continuing audition process, and from that process we will take a few young talented dancers to join us in the professional program in the fall.”
Powell says they’re looking for specific qualities, “People who have passion for physicality, who have a sense of musicality and a wonderful sense of coordination as they move through space. What we’re looking for most, is the potential to have them come and train at this national institution.”
The National Ballet School is located in Toronto, Ontario, and they are the only ballet school in North America that has its residence, academic facilities and ballet facilities are on one centralized campus.
Moncton’s auditions will be held at the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada on Highfield Street.
