Prime Minister Trudeau says the middle class will benefit from the free trade agreement reached between Canada and the European Union because trade will increase by 20 per cent.
The P-M argues more trade translates into more well paying jobs but the benefits must be inclusive and not limited to the wealthiest.
Trudeau adds the jobs that depend on exports to other countries offer wages that are 50 per cent higher than in industries that are not trade intensive. He denies giving up sovereinty to the corporations, describing the provisions in the agreement to protect labour, natural resources, food safety and the environment as gold standard.
The deal still has to be ratified in both Europe and Canada.
