The trial of a Charlotte county man facing second degree murder charges in the death of his mother is underway in Saint John.
Wearing a grey sweatshirt and paying attention to Mr. Justice William Grant, Matthew Tucker plead not guilty to second degree murder in the death of his mother, Dorothy Tucker.
The 53 year old was reported missing on November 10th and her body was found 10 days later in the woods by hunters.
A large jury pool filling two courtrooms was cut in half as many were excused for difficulty hearing, knowing someone close to the case or medical problems.
14 members of the jury have been sworn in with Justice Grant noting that Matthew Tucker enters this trial with a clean slate adding he has the presumption of innocence.
Matthew Tucker’s trial is set to resume at 930 tomorrow morning at the Saint John Law Courts.
