Common Councillor John MacKenzie is calling for improvements to the Cedar Point in the Millidgeville area to be included in the capital budget starting next year.
He says the area needs curbs and sidewalks and an upgrade to the storm system.
MacKenzie says the developer is usually in charge of these upgrades , which are then passed on to homeowners, but in this case it never happened.
Mayor Don Darling says he’s concerned with the precedent this would create by diverting limited capital dollars to a small group of wealthy home owners by paying for upgrade services they never paid for in the first place. He adds the city cannot divert millions of dollars away from other priorities.
Common Council will continue to discuss the issue before the final budget is made.
