The provincial government has released statistics that show positive numbers for summer tourism in New Brunswick.
The accommodation occupancy rate for January through August was up five percent over the same period last year, and the number of nights sold to Americans and other International visitors was up 18 per cent.
The province also saw the highest number of campers since 2004, and a 9 per cent increase in campsite rentals between January and August last year.
Several tourists attractions saw increases, including Hopewell Rocks, which was up 15 per cent, Fundy Trail increased 7 per cent, and Le Pays de la Sagouine increased 11 per cent..
- Fundy Trail, up seven per cent;
- Hopewell Rocks, up 15 per cent;
- Kingsbrae Garden, up 17 per cent;
- Le Pays de la Sagouine, up 11 per cent;
- New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre, up 11 per cent;
- New Brunswick Botanical Garden, up 12 per cent;
- Roosevelt Campobello International Park, up 17 per cent; and
- Village Historique Acadien, up 12 per cent.
