It was an epic finish to the Major League Baseball season with the Chicago Cubs winning their first World Series championship since 1908, downing Cleveland 8-7. The Cubs built up leads of 5-1 and 6-3 before Rajai Davis tied it 6-6 with a homer in the bottom of the 8th. The game was delayed by rain and then the Cubs scored two in the top of the 10th and Davis drove in a run in the bottom of the 10th before the Cubs recorded the final out on an infield grounder. Ben Zobrist of the Cubs was named Most Valuable Player.
The Philadelphia Phillies have named New Brunswick native Matt Stairs as their new hitting coach.
In the NHL, Carey Price made 42 saves in Montreal’s 3-0 win over Vancouver. The Canadiens have now won 8 in a row and are still unbeaten……Philadelphia got by Detroit in overtime 4-3 and Pittsburgh beat Anaheim 5-1 with Matt Murray making 32 saves in his first game back after breaking his hand in the World Cup of Hockey. The Penguins traded goalie Mike Condon to the Ottawa Senators for a fifth round draft pick in 2017.

The Boston Bruins alumni will be playing at the L-B-R tomorrow night at 7:00. The Bruins include Ray Bourque, Rick Middleton, Ken Linseman and Bob Sweeney.
