The Gallant government and Enbridge Gas have settled lawsuits that total more than $800-million lodged by the natural gas distributor against the province.
The company’s original contract with the government was signed in 1999 but in 2011 there was legislation passed that changed the terms of that original contract.
For the rest of the franchise agreement for two years, there’s a three percent cap on distribution rates and tarrifs for homeowners unless the electricity rates go up by more than that amount.
