November is Diabetes Awareness Month.
Shelley Jones is a certified diabetes educator. She says a 21 day challenge has been issued to raise funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association through encouraging people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Jones has been a nurse for over 30 years and says she decided to become a diabetes educator after she saw the positive impact she could make by sharing her knowledge, and helping people learn the skills they need to manager their diabetes.
She says they are also encouraging people to get screened and there’s a national test you can take online.
The Canadian Diabetes Association also has a charter, which talks about the rights that people living with diabetes have.
