Some drivers who volunteer their time to help other people in the city will soon have an easier time parking their cars.
Common Council has asked the city solicitor to revise an amendment to include volunteer parking passes.
Chief Executive Officer for Saint John Parking and Transit Ian Mackinnon says the passes will work anywhere with the organisations where the people volunteer applying for the special passes.
The passes will allow volunteers to park longer than the two hour limit to avoid having to walk back and forth every couple of hours to move their cars. The passes will allow volunteers to park anywhere in the city at a cost of roughly 5 dollars per month but it will be very selective in who gets them but Mackinnon calls it something that’s been needed in the city for some time now.
