The provincial and federal governments, and UNBSJ will invest $1 million dollars to build a multi-research greenhouse at the university.
The greenhouse will allow for research to be conducted in industries like aquaculture, pharmaceutical development and health care.

Service New Brunswick Minister Ed Doherty says research and development is a huge contribution to our economy, and calls the investment a way of expanding that type of development here in New Brunswick.
UNBSJ Vice President Robert MacKinnon says the research will include working with plants that have potential for medicinal use. He says fish researchers can also use the greenhouse for fish food and sea weed production.
MacKinnon calls it “much more than just a greenhouse”.
