A Mount Allison University geography and environment professor is calling U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton one of the most qualified candidates to ever run for elected office in the United States.
Brad Walters has lived and worked south of the border and says Clinton may have some modest shortcomings but if she wins, it will likely lead to a stable and competent transition of power.
Walters says there’s concern Republican nominee Donald Trump will make lots of bad decisions if he wins based on his message by building support from the fears and anxieties of voters.
Walters says Trump has been focusing on economic anxiety along with exaggerating fears about immigration and tapping into some historical racist sentiments.
Walters believes Trump has dragged the campaign into the gutter from the beginning and Clinton has been trying to respond to the low level behaviour.
He adds the campaign between Trump and Clinton has been the most unsettling political spectacle he’s ever witnessed.
