Did the fact that Hillary Clinton is a woman have anything to do with why she didn’t get elected?
Assistant Political Science Professor at the University of New Brunswick JP Lewis believes that gender played a big role in last night’s outcome, “It definitely appears from the early synopsis of the election coming in and where the votes are coming from, that could point to the idea that a lot of Americans were not ready for a female President. I think also when you combine gender with one of the most famous women in the world, with a long public record, instead of just being in the public eye, that changes the dynamic a bit.”
He thinks Canadians overwhelmingly wanted a Clinton Presidency, “I think that the option was there between the first female President or someone who has been openly misogynistic and racist, and I think to many people that is quite unsettling.”
