Transport Action Atlantic says the provincial government is supporting passenger rail in the region and shares its concerns about a lack of frequency and the poor state of rail infrastructure.
Lobby group president Ted Bartlett says he has met several times with Transportation Minister Bill Fraser who even travelled by train recently.
Bartlett says the transportation minister recently travelled to Montreal by train and met separately with both CN which owns the tracks and VIA Rail which operates passenger rail service.
Bartlett says Bill Fraser actually began his rail journey in Halifax where he also met with his Nova Scotia counterpart Geoff MacLellan.
He adds his group wants to meet with MacLellan soon who also supports passenger rail in the region.
