Charities are having a tough time of it these days to raise money because there’s less disposable income and, as such, people are very careful about who they’re giving to. They want to know their donations are now being swallowed up in administrative costs.
Catherine Hinton is Vice-President of Philanthropy with the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation and she says the biggest mistake charities make is not getting back to donors to let them know the impact of their donations. She says if the money donors give is not use for the purpose it was intended then the charity has a moral obligation to let them kinow why.
