Over the next few days, the highest tides of the year will be occurring in the Bay of Fundy and Gulf of St. Lawrence which could lead to potential flooding along the coast.
Environment Canada meteorologist Claude Cote says along with the high tides, a low pressure system is also arriving in New Brunswick but it’s not considered to be a storm.
“With a good storm system, we could see a surge in excess of one metre. With this one, we’re talking about maybe 30 to 50 cm maximum. But because of the astromincal high tide, because of the moon phase and so on, the overall water level could be quite significant,” he notes.
Rainfall amounts will vary between about 10 mm for Moncton and perhaps 30 mm for Saint John which he adds those don’t amount to any warnings.
But temperatures will be mild and Cote says will be about ten degrees above normal for this time of year.
