The provincial government has released its fiscal update for the second quarter, which projects a deficit of $231.6 million dollars for 2016-17.
Finance Minister Cathy Rogers says New Brunswickers wanted to protect education and health care, and believes the government has a fiscal plan in place that’s working.
Rogers says the audited statements for 2016 show a decrease in the deficit of over 50 per cent from 2014 to 2016.
Revenue is $25.9 million dollars higher than budgeted and total expenses are projected to be $10.4 million higher than budgeted.
