Should the Charlotte County Hospital be run independently, separate from Horizon Health? The Concerned Citizens of Charlotte County think so, and they’ve opened up a bank account to start the cause.
Co-chair of the group, John Gardner says they want to create an independent board to run the hospital in St. Stephen, “We feel that the people in Charlotte County know what it is that they need in their healthcare. They need to have a voice in that healthcare, and right now, that voice is lacking through Horizon Health.”
Gardner says there are things going on that they can’t explain or get answers on. He points to the new clinic for CCH that is supposed to open by the end of this year, yet he says we don’t know anything about the clinic, or who will be using it. “We just can’t seem to pinpoint what is going to be the role of that clinic. Is it going to be for visiting specialists, a walk-in clinic, basically a down-sized [emergency room], is it going to be for therapy and things like that? We really don’t have the answers and we can’t get those answers.”
If you would like to donate towards the independant board to run CCH, a bank account has been set up at the BMO on Milltown Blvd in St. Stephen. The account number is 8986 647. Gardner says there are already donations coming in to support the cause, and pledges from local municipalities.
