A workshop is being offered in Saint John to help people through the process of divorce.
The workshop is called “Doing Your Own Divorce” and is being held on November 23 at the Saint John Public Library in Market Square. It’s all part of a monthly series called Navigating the Family Justice System, where one family workshop is offered per month.
Workshop coordinator Jennifer Weston says it helps people who don’t have representation from a lawyer, or, people who haven’t decided to hire a lawyer yet.
“Outline step by step all the forms they have to fill out, and the processes they have to take, all the fees they need, where to send them, really all the information they need to know,” says Weston.
Most of the workshops are free, but there is a $20 fee for this one to offset the cost of the forms, guide and information package.
“This particular workshop is intended to help individuals who are handling their own divorce, who have an uncontested divorce, so they’re not disputing anything but they still have lots of paperwork to go through,” says Weston.
