Quispamsis Council will be reducing its contribution to Enterprise Saint John next year by half, from $112 thousand down to 56 thousand.
Councillor Beth Thompson led the initiative, saying she wanted to send a wake up call that the town is not getting value for its bucks.
Councillor Kirk Miller says he would like to see Enterprise Saint John be more accountable. It’s estimated the town’s growth next year will only reach 2.14 per cent.
The Saint John Sculpture Symposium will not be receiving any money next year from the town of Quispamsis. That decision was made during budget deliberations by the town councillors. They decided instead to give the Field House project at Exhibition Park $75 hundred a year over the next 4 years.
Bird Construction last week contributed $25 thousand to the $24 million project. Field House Project Chair Bill MacMackin is hoping to have the funding all confirmed early in the new year with construction starting next summer or fall.
