Quispamsis Town Council has been told ridership on the Comex suburban bus service may increase next year when the cost of parking uptown goes up.
Councillors have come to a consensus to give Comex $150 thousand in 2017 but want to see exact numbers on ridership with the use of geolocators.
Councillor Pierre Rioux remains dubious and is opposed. Rioux says he would have liked to see regular runs from the K-V directly to the Regional Hospital and U-N-B Saint John but that proved to be impractical because of the staggered hours.
It’s also being speculated that more people in the town may want to take the bus into the city when the new Irving headquarters building is constructed because parking could be tight and expensive.
