The town of Quispamsis finds itself under pressure to not raise the tax rate next year.
The town is looking at growth next year of 2.14 per cent while having to make do with $430 thousand less in gas tax money. In addition, funding requests to the town have gone up by 279 per cent since 2013.
Mayor Gary Clark says town council was facing the prospect of an increase in the tax rate of 6 cents.
Clark would like the municipal water system to be expanded further down Hampton Road for commercial development.
