Larry Hachey chairs the Board at Enterprise Saint John. Hachey says there’s a fundamental misunderstanding about how attracting business works.
He says speaking to companies by its very nature is secretive because companies don’t want their employees to know if they are moving or expanding. He adds these things often take years.
Hachey says he was surprised at Quispamsis Council deciding to cut funding for Enterprise Saint John by half because there has been no dialogue.
He adds you have to have an economic development agency if you want to be in the game these days and competition for new business is intense.
