The Fraser Institute finds Canadians are waiting a long time to see a doctor.
Wait times in Canada reaching a record high of 20 weeks on average. To compare, back in 1993 the wait was just over 9 weeks
Health Minister Victor Boudreau agrees it’s a matter of concern, but he cautions that the report comes from a number of surveys sent out to doctors and the participation rate in this province is lower than some other provinces.
Boudreau says two of the main challenges is a shortage of doctors and an aging population.
He says people can go to the goverment’s website and see what the wait times are for 29 different procedures and he says some of the wait times are better than others.
