Charlotte-Campobello is now St. Croix.
MLA John Ames making the announcement at his constituency office this morning, revealing the new sign above the entrance that now shows the name change for our riding that includes St. Stephen, St. Andrews, McAdam, and Campobello.
“It’s a unification effort so that we can continue working together as a collective group of communities so that the entire region here in the south-west can prosper and succeed into the future.”
Ames says he started campaigning for the name change almost two years ago, and he says he found there were many people, especially in the northern parts of the riding, who didn’t understand where the riding started or stopped, or have an identity for Charlotte-Campobello.
He says he also met those who didn’t know who their MLA was due to the confusion.
Ame says he hopes everyone can now resonate with the name St. Croix, especially with the St. Croix Watershed that takes in a vast majority of the riding, and because of the history associated with the name.
