The Gallant government is striving for more gender-neutral names which is why legislation has been introduced to change the name of two offices.
The Office of the Rentalsman will become the Residential Tenancies Tribunal, and the Office of the Ombudsman will become Ombud New Brunswick.
Finance Minister Cathy Rogers says the change is symbolic to let women of New Brunswick know that all offices and opportunities are equally open to them.
The province has also strived to appoint more women to agencies, boards and commissions, ensuring there are more women in positions of influence.
